Awbeg Suite – CUH
The Awbeg Suite refurbishment at Cork University Hospital was delivered for the Health Service Executive to transform an existing ward area into a modern nine-bed patient accommodation suite. The €500,000 project was completed over a compressed 4 to 5 week programme within a live hospital environment, where continuity of healthcare services was critical.
The reconfigured layout included nine patient bedrooms, a staff base, nurse station and associated WC facilities. The scope of works involved extensive strip-out and demolition, asbestos removal, installation of new partitions, ceilings, wall and floor finishes, sanitary fittings, and full mechanical and electrical upgrades. Acting as Project Supervisor Construction Stage (PSCS), we coordinated the works to ensure strict compliance with healthcare, safety and infection control requirements. The project was delivered on programme and maintained an excellent safety record throughout.
